USER INFORMATION:
*********************************************************
Note to users UPGRADING FROM VERSION 1.2 of Mouse2:
In the current version, the file "Mouse2 INIT" is no longer needed. So when
you upgrade by putting the new v1.4 "Mouse2" file in your System Folder please
REMOVE YOUR "Mouse2 INIT" FILE (from the earlier version) at the same time.
*********************************************************
To use:
Put the file "Mouse2" in your System Folder. Double speed selection (what I
call "overdrive") will then be available in your control panel by selecting the
(new) "Mouse2" icon in the scrolling device list.
To remove this feature from the system, just remove the "Mouse2" file from your
System Folder and reboot (The programs do not create any files and do not
modify any other files so your system will be exactly back to normal).
Notes:
The fast-tracking mode gives you a strict doubling of the tracking speed. It
doesn't just add a "6th gear" to the standard 5 speeds, but doubles the variety
of speeds (like the front sprockets on a 10-speed bicycle). For instance, if
you need strictly linear motion but find the standard "very slow (tablet)" mode
a crawl, then leave it in tablet mode (for linearity) but kick in the
overdrive.
The Mac Plus's mouse is different, so it won't be affected up by this utility
(it is a FEATURE of this program that it will not have any (i.e. negative)
effect if you put it on a Mac Plus system by mistake).
I don't know what effect it will have on 1) non-Apple mice; 2) "mouse-like"
devices, like joysticks; and 3) future models of Macintosh, even if they have
ADB. (With the joystick I have, it seems to have no effect [which is fine
because that F-16 flies fast enough as it is...])
Enjoy!
